The Lalgudi Bani – SAMA event

The South Asian Music Association (SAMA) is organizing a special presentation at the SOCH
Cinema on April 17th. The event features renowned Carnatic violinists Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan
and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, who will perform and present about the musical legacy of their
father, the esteemed violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman. The performance will be centered
around a unique archive of Jayaraman’s recordings available in Harvard’s Rubin Collection of
Indian Classical Music, which will serve as a guiding theme for the live performance. The
showcase aims to provide unique insight into the richness of South Asian musical heritage
through the lens of this tremendously influential family of musicians and artists.
